Landscape design and installation in Charlotte
Most landscape failures around here are planted, not designed. A hydrangea in full western sun, a boxwood in a wet corner, a Japanese maple where the mower needs to turn. We walk your yard first, note where the water goes and where the sun is at four in the afternoon, and then draw a plan you can afford to maintain. Then our crew installs it and we come back after the first summer to see what took.
How a project runs
- A free walk-through, usually an hour, to talk about how you use the yard
- A scaled plan with a plant list, sizes and a price, no design fee on projects we install
- Soil amended before anything goes in; Piedmont clay wants compost, not more clay
- Plants sourced from Piedmont growers, so they are used to our summers
- Bed edges cut, mulch or pine straw down, and a watering schedule in your hand
- A follow-up visit after the first season, and a one-year replacement on anything we planted that died on our watch

- Large tree removal, which we bring in a licensed arborist for
- Irrigation system installation, though we design around one and can recommend an installer
- Plans for projects we are not installing; those are a paid design at $150

How much does a front-yard makeover cost?
The honest range for a typical Charlotte front foundation bed, refreshed with new plants, edging and mulch, is $2,500 to $6,000. A full front-yard redesign with a walkway runs more. We give you a real number after the walk-through, and the walk-through is free.
Do you do the design or do I need a landscape architect?
For residential planting beds and front-yard work, we design it. For grading permits, retaining walls over four feet or engineered drainage, we bring in the right licensed professional and tell you upfront.
What if a plant dies?
Anything we planted that dies within a year is replaced, provided it was watered on the schedule we gave you. We will tell you honestly if it was the plant or the watering.
When is the best time to plant?
Fall, by a wide margin. Roots grow all winter and the plant is established before the first heat. Spring is fine. Mid-summer planting is possible but it is hard on the plant and hard on your water bill.
