Lawn care and landscaping in Mint Hill, NC

Mint Hill is where lots get big. An acre is normal, two is not unusual, and a lot of them are still on septic, which changes how we mow. It is also loblolly pine country, which is where our name comes from: pine straw is free on the ground and it is the right mulch for almost every bed here. The work is more mowing time and less fussing over a small front bed, and the plan pricing reflects that honestly.

Mint Hill yards, and what they need

Septic drain fields

A lot of Mint Hill east of Lawyers Road is on septic. We find the drain field before the first visit, keep the heavy equipment off it, and never plant a tree over it. A zero-turn mower is fine; a skid steer is not.

Pine straw, not hardwood

With loblolly stands on most lots, pine straw is cheaper, lighter and holds on the slopes. We rake the natural areas, tuck the edges, and only bring in hardwood for the beds by the front door.

Long open lawns

The old ranches on Bain School Road and Fairview Road have long unbroken lawns that take time to cut well. We stripe them with a wide-deck mower and quote by the acre, which is why Mint Hill prices are a walk-and-quote rather than the quarter-acre tier.

From Mint Hill and nearby

“Two acres and a septic field and they knew exactly where to stay off. Pine straw looks better than the hardwood we used to pay for.”

“Third company we've tried on our Myers Park yard and the first one that told us the truth about the shade. Half of it is now a fern bed and the other half is the best grass we've had.”

Mint Hill questions

Do you do lots over an acre?

Yes, and a good share of our Mint Hill customers are on one to three acres. We walk it, note the drain field and the slopes, and give you a monthly number rather than a quarter-acre tier price.

Can you leave the natural areas alone?

We prefer to. A pine-straw natural area under loblollies is low-maintenance by design. We rake it, edge it and keep the vines off the trunks, and that is all it needs.
