Lawn fertilization and weed control for Charlotte yards
Charlotte is a transition-zone city, which means we grow cool-season fescue and warm-season Bermuda in the same neighborhoods, and they want opposite things at opposite times of year. A program that works here is timed to the grass you actually have. Ours is six applications, put down by state-licensed applicators, with pre-emergent going out in late February before crabgrass ever germinates.
The six-step program
- Late winter: pre-emergent and a light feed, before crabgrass germinates
- Spring: fertilizer and broadleaf weed control for the flush
- Late spring: second pre-emergent plus a slow-release feed
- Summer: a light, iron-rich feed that does not push fescue in the heat
- Early fall: the big fescue feed, timed with aeration and seed
- Late fall: winterizer, so the roots keep working after the blades stop
What it doesn't cover
- Mowing, which is the Lawn Plan
- Grub, mole cricket or army worm treatment, which we diagnose first and quote separately
- Bermuda and Zoysia lawns get a different five-step schedule; ask and we will lay it out

Are you licensed to apply these products?
Yes. Our applicators carry a North Carolina pesticide applicator license (#027-11342) and we can show it to you. Four of the ten biggest Charlotte competitors say "licensed" and none prints a number; we print ours.
Is it safe for kids and dogs?
Once the application has dried, which is usually an hour or two, yes. We leave a flag and a note with the time, and we text you when we are done so you know when to let the dog back out.
Why six applications instead of four?
Because the two pre-emergents are what stop crabgrass, and the fall feed is what makes a fescue lawn thick. A four-step program usually skips one of those and then sells you a weed spray in July.
Can I get this without the mowing?
