Named after the tree in everybody's back yard
Travis and Renee Oakes started Loblolly in 2009 with one truck, one trailer and a route of eleven houses in east Charlotte. The loblolly pine is the tree on every lot out here; it seemed like the right name for a company that was not going anywhere.
Why we print the numbers
Every lawn company in Charlotte says it is licensed. Not one of the ten biggest prints the number. Every one names a maintenance plan. Not one prints a price. We think a homeowner deciding between three tabs on a phone deserves to see both before they call, so ours are on every page.
The other thing we decided early was routes by neighborhood rather than by job. It means the same two or three people are on your street every week, and it means they notice when your fescue starts to go in June instead of finding out in August.
Six things, every yard
Routes are built by neighborhood. Your crew learns your gate, your dog and where the sprinkler heads are.
